Deposits in TS banks rise by Rs 52,153 crore

Hyderabad: Total deposits in banks in Telangana state grew by Rs 52,153 crore during the first half of this fiscal (April-September 2023-24), totalling Rs 735,159.54 crore. The total advances to banks grew by Rs 99,283 crore and advances of all banks were at Rs 9,13,179.97 crore.

These figures were released by the State Level Bankers Committee (SLBC), Telangana, in its 39th quarterly review meeting of the performance of banks for the quarter ended September 2023 on Friday.

State finance secretary T.K. Sreedevi, RBI regional director K. Nikhila, Nabard Chief General Manager (CGM) Ch. Suseela, SBI-Hyderabad circle CGM Rajesh Kumar, SBI-corporate centre GM P.K. Bansal, SBI-GM, SLBC Telangana convener Debashish Mitra and executives from public sector, private sector and regional rural banks were present in the meeting.

The data show that CD ratio continued to be above 100 per cent and presently stood at 124.22 per cent.

During April-September, banks disbursed short-term production loans amounting to Rs 35,023 crore achieving 79.48 per cent of the annual targets. They disbursed Rs 26,730 crore as investment credit to agri, allied agri, infra and agri. ancillary activities achieving 67.97 per cent of the targets.

Banks disbursed education loans to the tune of Rs 396 crore and housing loans amounting to Rs 1,832 crore under the priority sector.
An amount of Rs 67,723 crore was disbursed to the micro, small & medium enterprises (MSME) segment, achieving 124 per cent of the targets.

Under the Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana Scheme, banks sanctioned Rs 4,485 crore achieving 42 per cent of the annual targets. Taken together, banks disbursed Rs 1,33,819.21 crore to various sections of borrowers under priority sector, recording an achievement of 72.21 per cent of the annual targets.

Banks in the state have 113.72 lakh PMJDY accounts in their books and 92.69 lakh (81.50%) of PMJDY accounts are seeded with Aadhar.  RuPay cards were issued to 84.75 lakh, that is, 74.53 per cent of the PMJDY accounts. As for the social security schemes, banks covered 137.39 lakh customers under the Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY) and 58.12 lakh customers under Pradhan Manthri Jeevan Jyothi Bima Yojana (PMJJBY) while 17.57 lakh customers subscribed for the Atal pension Yojana scheme.

Under PM Svanidhi Tranche-1, banks have sanctioned 385,479 applications and disbursed loans to 381,220 street vendors. Under Tranche-2, banks sanctioned 193,303 applications and disbursed loans to 184,381 street vendors.  Under Tranche-3, banks sanctioned 33,818 applications and disbursed 32,499 loans.

Under the agriculture infrastructure fund, banks sanctioned Rs 1,656 crore against a cumulative target of Rs 1,875 crore for the current fiscal.
