Let Kerala High Court monitor Munnar probe: P T Thomas
The high court needs to intervene in the matter
Thrissur: Senior Congress leader P.T. Thomas, MLA, has called for an investigation monitored by the High Court into Munnar encroachments. Mr Thomas, who had received flak from the party as well as the Idukki diocese of the Catholic church for favouring the Gadgil committee report on protection of Western Ghats said here on Thursday that the stand taken by veteran CPM leader V.S. Achuthanadan on the encroachments should be welcomed.
“But during the first Munnar operations held during his tenure as CM, V.S. didn’t take a strong stand against the encroachment of his party leaders in the high range,” he noted. He also said that S. Rajendran, MLA, and Joyce George, MP, had encroached land in procession and Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan was trying to protect the duo. “The high court needs to intervene in the matter.”
