HYDERABAD: A 49-year-old motorist was charred to death when a speeding TSRTC bus and the motorcycle caught fire and gutted after colliding with each other at Munagala in the Suryapet district on Thursday. The deceased was identified as M. Raju, a resident of Indiranagar of Munagala of Suryapet.

According to police, a Rajadhani air-conditioned bus belonging to the TSRTC was on its way from Kukatpally to Vijayawada with 20 passengers. The bus belonged to Miyapur depot. The collision had led to the bike catching fire which then spread to the bus, the police said.

In the mishap, Raju sustained severe burn injuries. He died on the way to the hospital. Police registered a case of rash and negligent driving against the TSRTC bus driver and shifted Raju’s body to government hospital for post-mortem examination.

Passengers of the bus managed to get off before the flames spread. RTC officials shifted the passengers to their destinations by arranging alternative vehicles. Further probe is on.
