Police searches for history sheeter who raped' woman
The Vithura police on Monday recorded the statement of the victim woman.
Thiruvananthapuram: A history-sheeter accused of raping a woman at gun point at Vithura on Sunday is yet to be traced.
The Vithura police on Monday recorded the statement of the victim woman. She was also subjected to medical examination.
Police sources said that an intensive search for the accused Shaji alias Pothu Shaji was going on. Shaji was involved in several criminal cases and was earlier detained under the Kerala Antisocial Activities (Prevention) Act (KAAPA).
Police also said that there were certain contradictions in the statement of the woman as well as her live-in partner.
“Though the medical examinations on the woman confirmed sexual intercourse, further probe was required to ascertain whether it was a rape on not. But we are now progressing as per the statements given by the woman and her partner," said the police.
Shaji allegedly raped the woman on Sunday when only she and her two kids were present at the house. He allegedly beat her and threatened her using a gun and raped her. The woman complained to the police after he came to her house again on Tuesday and tried to rape her again when her live-in-partner was away. Shaji was acquainted with the family for quite some time.
Though there were reports that Shaji was already nabbed by the police, police did not confirm.
