Get ready to shell out more for power
This revision will come into effect from April 1, 2019. The hike will be applicable to all the Discoms in the state, including Bescom.
Bengaluru: Power consumers in the state will have to shell out more as the Karnataka Electricity Regulatory Commission (KERC) has hiked the tariffs up to 33 paise per unit on an average.
This revision will come into effect from April 1, 2019. The hike will be applicable to all the Discoms in the state, including Bescom.
According to a KERC official all the Discoms had submitted a proposal for fare hike, taking into consideration the increase in price for power purchased from thermal plants and other factors.
The official said, “Bescom had proposed to the KERC to increase the fare to Rs 1 per unit, but we did not want to badly burden the consumers and after a due diligence decided to hike 33 paise a unit.”
The official also mentioned that the state has 28 lakh pump sets of 10 HP and these are supplied with free power under various schemes. “Taking this into consideration, the fare has been increased,” he added.
