Inter-state links in crime under scanner

ALAPPUZHA: A special squad has been formed to investigate the online drug racket that was busted by the excise team on Thursday at Alappuzha. The team led by excise circle inspector S. Rajan Babu will look into the inter-state connection of the racket. It will be led by Binoy 36, Kuzhikandathil house, Thathampally, Alappuzha.

The squad was constituted after the excise officials got a tip-off about the inter-state operations from an accused during interrogation. The excise team has confiscated at least 50 ampoules of buprenorphine, 40 empty bottles, 30 syringes, 10 gram of ganja, large quantity of contraceptive tablets and  condoms from the accused. The accused was conducting business under the cover of an online marketing agency.

It’s suspected that the accused had got hold of the drugs from other states from their connections. The investigation will cover the dubious network of the accused,” said Mr K. Chandrapalan, assistant commissioner. The police team has also found secret cameras fixed in various rooms and it is suspected that he used to blackmail customers.
