Is Tamil Nadu sacrificing Annadurai\'s two-language policy for NEP, asks MK Stalin
The two-language policy was protected even by AIADMK leaders like M G Ramachandran and J Jayalalithaa
Hitting out strongly at the New Education Policy brought about by the Centre, DMK President M K Stalin asked the State government if it had decided to sacrifice the two-language policy introduced by C N Annadurai because the present leaders were afraid of losing their power.
What was the stand of the party that had Annadurai’s name attached to it on the imposition of Hindi and Sanskrit in Tamil Nadu, which had made rapid strides in education over the past 100 years, Stalin asked in a statement on Friday.
Despite the impending threat to State’s educational development, the AIADMK government, even after the DMK and other opposition parties had come out against the new policy, was maintaining silence, he said.
The two-language policy was protected even by AIADMK leaders like M G Ramachandran and J Jayalalithaa, Stalin said and wondered if the present government had decided to betray the legacy of the two leaders by toeing the line of the Centre.
The Centre was imposing the new policy with no respect for democratic norms and the Constitution was imposing the new education policy that went against the rights of the States, social justice and India’s diversity, he said The police would affect the future of the youth, he added.
