At Rs 1.83 crore, Kadapa bar clocks highest bid in auction

Vijayawada: A bar in Kadapa sold for Rs 1.83 crore in an e-auction of 344 bars, setting a record for the highest price on the day, as rights for selling Indian-made foreign liquor and imported foreign liquor were opened to bids for zones 1 and 4 on Saturday.

In Kadapa district, there are 27 bars in areas under eight urban local bodies, for which authorities received 61 applications. The bar that sold for a record price is one of 12 located under the Kadapa municipal corporation, and the lowest bid for it was Rs 1.55 crore, it was revealed.

Of the total, 323 bars were auctioned on the day, while the rest will be opened to bids on a later date.

In Tirupati, which has 16 bars, the highest bid was `1.59 crore, while the lowest was Rs 1.49 crore. However, the bids were comparatively lower in Visakhapatnam, which has 128 bars, as the highest bid was Rs 60 lakh and eight bars did not receive bids.

Officials said that zones 1 and 4 include Visakhapatnam, Vizianagaram, Srikakulam, Anantapur, Chittoor, Kurnool and Kadapa. Similarly, e-auction will be held for zones 2 and 3 on Sunday, covering East Godavari, West Godavari, Krishna, Guntur, Prakasam and Nellore districts.

In total, 840 bars will be opened to bids and the licence will be granted for three years, from September 2022 to August 2025.
