VIJAYAWADA: Narendra Anandrao Patil, divisional railway manager, said that in Vijayawada Division, SCR, under the first phase, 11 railway stations had been selected under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme. He explained that Anakapalle, Bhimavaram Town, Eluru, Kakinada Town Junction, Narasapur, Nidadavolu Junction, Ongole, Singarayakonda, Tadepalligudem, Tenali, and Tuni were the railway stations selected under the Amrit Bharat scheme.

He said that the local passengers and rail users from the selected stations were requested to share their inputs for the development of these stations under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme. He further stated that public participation was the key to any development, as these public places served thousands of people.

The DRM explained that the Indian Railways had introduced the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme earlier this year with a view to major upgradation of railway stations. He said, “Under this scheme, priority will be given to those works that improve the ease of movement of passengers, their convenience, the integration of the station with surrounding areas, and the look and feel of various passenger amenities. Various works are being proposed as part of the scheme, including improvements to the platform surface, extension of the cover over the platform, improvements to the station facade and circulating area, and installation of 12-metre-wide end-to-end foot over bridges, improvement of lighting, provision of escalators, lifts, furniture, etc.

Narendra Patil said, "We request the public to help us finalise the elevation and facade for the station redevelopment, including the circulating area, by August 3, 2023, by giving suggestions. Give valuable suggestions for the development of the railway station on or before August 3, 2023."
