Heavy rains, flooding in Telangana, Andhra Pradesh districts

In AP, heavy to very heavy rains are likely to occur in Coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema.

Hyderabad: A few districts in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh received very heavy rainfall on Tuesday. Mahbubnagar in Telangana received the highest rainfall of 16 cm, followed by Nalgonda at 4 cm. Many districts in the two states recorded more than 7 cm rainfall. Kadapa in AP recorded 23 cm, followed by Krishna district of Costal Andhra at 12 cm, Guntur at 9 cm and West Godavari at 7cm. A met department official said, “Though the low pressure area above west-central Bay of Bengal did not intensify, the upper air cyclonic circulation is accelerating the monsoon currents, which is causing heavy rains in TS and AP. There is a heavy rainfall warning for Telangana and AP for the next five days.”

In Telangana, the Met department has warned of heavy to very heavy rains at isolated places in the districts of Nalgonda and Mahbubnagar, and heavy rain at isolated places in the remaining districts. In AP, heavy to very heavy rains are likely to occur in Coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema. Hyderabad meanwhile recorded light rains measuring 1.2 mm. The city will witness one or two spells of rain, at times heavy, in certain areas. The maximum and minimum temperatures will remain 29ºC and 21ºC degrees.
