Jagan to release Rs 109.74 crore under YSR Rythu Bharosa to 1,46,324 tenant farmers
VIJAYAWADA: The state government will release Rs 109.74 crore in aid to tenant farmers under the YSR Rythu Bharosa scheme on August 31, official sources said. They said that under the scheme, running for a fifth consecutive year, Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy wants to extend aid to the maximum number of beneficiaries.
The aid for SC, ST and minority community tenant farmers will be done through direct account transfer from the Chief Minister’s Tadepalli camp office. According to agriculture department officials, 1,46,324 farmers are expected to benefit from the scheme. Further, they said a total of Rs 31,005.04 crore has been disbursed to farmers under multiple schemes.
Listing out various schemes for farmers, officials said the government has been providing financial assistance to farmers since October 15, 2019, under the Rythu Bharosa-PM Kisan scheme. Under the scheme, the first instalment of Rs 7,500, including Rs 2,000 of PM Kisan, is released in May, the second instalment of Rs 4,000 in October and the third instalment of Rs 2,000 (PM Kisan only) in January, bringing the total to Rs 13,500.
They said that similarly, tenant farmers of SCs, STs, backward casts and minority communities cultivating endowment and forest lands also get Rs 13,500 in three instalments.
Minister for agriculture Kakani Govardhan Reddy said that a record number of Crop Right Cultivation Certificates (CCRCs) have already been issued by the Jagan Mohan Reddy government. He explained that for the fifth year in a row, YSR Rythu Bharosa is ready to provide farmer assurance to tenant farmers, as well as those who cultivate endowment lands.
He said that among the eligible CCRCs, 1,42,693 SC, ST, BC and minority tenants and 3,631 cultivators of endowment lands will get Rs 109.74 crore, at the rate of Rs 7,500 per farmer, in the first instalment of YSR Rythu Bharosa.
Minister Govardhan Reddy stated that the Chief Minister will directly deposit cash into the accounts of eligible farmers from the Tadepalli camp office by pressing a button. He said the previous governments did not provide any welfare to tenant farmers and only Jagan Mohan Reddy has done so, “as he is working for the welfare of tenant farmers also, who were involved in farming largely in AP state.”
