Owaisi urges KCR to form, lead alternative third front
AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi lauded Rao for rebuilding mosques that were demolished
Hyderabad: AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi on Wednesday lauded Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao at a rally in Jharkhand, urging Rao to undertake the formation of a third alternative. He criticised BJP and Congress, terming them ‘Chaukidar and Dukandar’ parties, who either spread hatred or consider Muslims as vote banks.
Addressing a rally in Dumri of Jharkhand on Wednesday, Owaisi namechecked the '1 lakh financial assistance scheme to minority beneficiaries in Telangana, under which applications can be filed online.
He also lauded Rao for rebuilding mosques that were demolished. “He is secular. In Telangana, he knows that the BJP’s communalism and Congress are not liked by the people. I told CM KCR to come forward as people are not happy with Chaukidar and Dukandar parties.”
Referring to Telangana, he said, “The state from which I come has less than 50 lakh population and Jharkhand has 60 lakh population. The minority department’s budget in Telangana is '2,000 crore and in Jharkhand, it is a mere '500 crore. We have seven MLAs in Telangana but we don’t have a minister. You are 60 lakh and have four MLAs and two ministers, but the budget is '500 crore. If talking about injustice to people is instigating people, then I would do that.”
Criticising Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren, he said, “The CM has been flaying me and saying if you vote for me, it would result in BJP gaining electorally. You have been voting for him for ages; has it made any difference to your lives? Were you born to only vote for them? Your forefathers did not have an alternative, unlike you.”
Despite not having a minister in the Telangana government, he said, “Nearly one lakh students of minority community are studying in 204 government residential schools opened in Telangana by us. I got a junior college opened in my area and five students from the college were selected in the NEET and are studying in government colleges.”
Owaisi also challenged the Centre to implement the Uniform Civil Code in Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand, saying it should not be implemented at all. “Modi cannot tell me how to live my life,” he said.
He said: “We told the Telangana CM there shouldn’t be a UCC, he agreed. When we asked for burial grounds, he gave us 125 acres of land and we allocated it between shias, sunnis and others.”
