TIRUPATI: In an unexpected display of political Gandhigiri, Rishitha Reddy, the wife of Bojjala Sudheer Reddy, Telugu Desam (TD) party’s in-charge for Srikalahasti Assembly constituency, tied rakhis to the police personnel who arrived at their residence on Wednesday to place her husband under house arrest.

The unique protest took place in the context of a state-wide call for bandh by the opposition party on Wednesday. The TD had organised a protest programme in Srikalahasti, urging supporters to voice their dissent against the state government's sand policy. Bojjala Sudheer Reddy and his followers were slated to participate in this demonstration.

However, when the local police personnel reached the residence of Sudheer Reddy in Urandur, their intentions were to prevent him from leaving the premises by placing him under house arrest.

It was at this juncture that Rishitha Reddy, in a surprising move, attempted to tie rakhis to the police. While the police personnel were initially taken aback by the unexpected move, the situation remained peaceful throughout and Rishitha tied rakhis to them. The police further carried out their duty by placing Sudheer Reddy under house arrest.
