1 battles for life in Kovai immolation bid
Depressed over the death of his brother, Ranjith Kumar too attempted suicide by first stabbing himself with a broken bottle.
Coimbatore: A 35-year-old man, who is the brother of a Hindu Munnani (HM) functionary, is battling for life after attempting suicide by self-immolation in Coimbatore.
Police said N Ranjith Kumar from Podanur took the extreme step after his brother N Arun Kumar, 31, committed suicide fearing police action in connection with the mob violence during slain HM functionary Sasi Kumar’s funeral procession in the city recently. Arun Kumar was Kurichi area secretary of HM.
A few days ago, Arun Kumar doused himself with kerosene and set himself on fire. He then succumbed to burn injuries at the Coimbatore Medical College and Hospital (CMCH) here.

Even after that episode, he still kept brooding over the demise of his brother. Late on Friday night, Ranjith Kumar made a self-immolation bid like his brother after dousing himself with petrol. He was then rushed to the CMCH and is undergoing treatment in a serious condition.
