Nandikkara GHSS takes up the village where the school is located

As a part of the first phase of cleaning activities, the unit cleared unwanted shrubs and cleaned up a pond

KOCHI: National Service Scheme (NSS) of Nandikara Government Higher Secondary School here has adopted the village where the school is located. As a part of the NSS programmes to be implemented for the village, the programme officer of the unit P. Sindhu along with the 50 volunteers of the unit paid a visit to the village the other day and held discussion with the villagers.

The adoption programme has been named ‘Gramika’ “After our interaction with the residents of the village, we came to a conclusion that we need to focus on the cleanliness and create awareness among the residents to send their children for higher education. Most of the parents think their children need to learn only up to Plus 2,” Ms Sindhu said. As a part of the first phase of cleaning activities, the unit cleared unwanted shrubs using grass cutting machine, cleared the blockades below culverts and cleaned up a pond in the village.
