Officials ratify allegations against former Podalakur tahsildar
The collector went on to say that suitable disciplinary action is being taken against the former tahsildar as per rules
Nellore: Former minister Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy on Saturday said his allegations against former Podalakur tahsildar T. Swathi carrying out mutations without registration of lands have proven true going by district collector’s reply to Lokayukta.
The TD leader produced a copy of the collector’s letter to Lokayukta on the matter to justify his claim.
As per the letter, the collector had, at the instance of Lokayukta, ordered revenue divisional officer (RDO), Nellore, to conduct a probe into irregularities of tahsildar.
Subsequently, in his reply to Lokayukta on October 17, 2021, the collector stated that the RDO had personally enquired into the allegations against T. Swathi and found serious lapses in records. The records and registers had not been maintained properly by her. She had also carried out mutations with her digital sign and biometric authentication on web records of land in Podalakur mandal without maintaining any backup file.
The collector went on to say that suitable disciplinary action is being taken against the former tahsildar as per rules.
It may be mentioned here that the Lokayukta took up the matter following a petition by one Depuri Hazarattaiah of Nellore on August 13, 2021.
Hazarattaiah complained that the tahsildar in question had been carrying out mutation and changing adangal and IB records even when there were no registrations. There were also instances where CJFS lands had been converted as DKT Patta, facilitating purchase and sale of lands.
The tahsildar had allegedly carried out scores of such illegal mutations after collecting ₹ 30,000 to ₹ 50,000 for each transaction at Pulikallu, Prabhagiripatnam, Thatiparthi, Parlapalli and other villages, Hazarattaiah alleged.
