Bengaluru: In a first, the city police who are set to take guard to ensure  law and order during the New Year’s Eve celebration across the city, celebrated New Year a day in advance. Over 200 police personnel of Bengaluru (East Zone), who are to be deployed for the New Year’s Eve security duty were invited for the celebration by the Additional Commissioner Seemant Kumar Singh.

The event was held at a convention centre in HAL police station limits. After a formal cake cutting ceremony, the personnel were provided dinner. Singh said the move was aimed at motivating his men as they would be missing New Year’s Eve celebration. “They all will be deployed on Sunday and will only see others celebrating. We had a get-together on Saturday where we celebrated the New Year in advance. We all had a good time,”Singh told Deccan Chronicle.
