Vijayawada: Mangalagiri MLA Alla Ramakrishna Reddy said though he has resigned from the YSR Congress party, he will continue in politics.

He pointed out that he had been associated with YSR Congress for several years and remained loyal to Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy.

Addressing media in Mangalagiri on Saturday, Ramakrishna Reddy said the chief minister had promised to give ₹1,200 crore for development of his Mangalagiri assembly constituency.

He deplored that the amount had been brought down to ₹ 500 crore and again to ₹300 crore. He said even this amount went down to ₹125 crore. He regretted that finally, not even ₹12 crore have been given to the constituency.

The Mangalagiri MLA underlined that he made several representations to the state government to release funds for development of his constituency but in vain. He said he had to spend from his own pocket for developing his constituency.

Ramakrishna Reddy maintained that if YSRC wants to win again, Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy should spend money on development of Kuppam, Bhimavaram, Gajuwaka and Mangalagiri constituencies. He wondered how the ruling party wants to win these segments without spending anything on their development.

The MLA said he had been a follower of late chief minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy. In this context, he said he has decided to follow YSR’s daughter Y.S. Sharmila in the future.

Incidentally, he is the first MLA in Andhra Pradesh to come out in support of Sharmila amid rumours that she may merge YSRTP with the Congress and play an active role in Andhra Pradesh politics.
