Warangal: Endowments minister Konda Surekha directed the temple authorities to make elaborate arrangements and provide all facilities for the convenience of devotees visiting the Sri Mallikarjuna Swamy Jatara which will begin from Sankranti at Inavolu mandal in the Wardhannapet Assembly constituency.

The Inavolu Jatara will continue for three months until Ugadi. Lakhs of visitors and devotees from various corners of the state are expected. During the jatara period, special prayers will be offered to the presiding deities on occasions like Medaram Jatara and festivals.

As devotees have been facing a lot of problems with lack of toilets and drinking water facilities, bathing ghats, permanent shelters, VIP cottages or dormitories for longer stay, minister Surekha held a review meeting, which was attended by MLA K.R. Nagaraju, district collector Siktha Patnaik and temple authorities, on the arrangements for jatara and developmental works to be taken up at the shrine. She told the officials not to be lax and to take necessary steps to keep the temple premises hygienic and separate queue lines for elderly and pregnant women.

Officials told to arrange ambulance services to meet medical emergencies during jatara and install high-mast lights and uninterrupted power supply and other necessary steps for smooth and successful conduct of the religious event without incident.
