Rs 25,000 Reward for Timely Detection of Weld Failure on Konkan Railway Track

UDUPI: Konkan Railway recognized the vigilance of Pradeep Shetty, a Track Maintainer, with a cash reward of Rs 25,000 for his timely detection of a weld failure on the track between Padubidri and Innanje in Udupi.

According to officials, Pradeep Shetty identified the weld failure in the Padubidri-Innanje section (706/02-04) early Sunday morning at 2:25 am. He immediately informed the authorities, who took prompt action to rectify the issue. Train operations were temporarily halted until the track was repaired and declared safe for trains.
The commendation ceremony took place on Sunday afternoon at the site, where Shetty was presented with the cash award by Gopalakrishnan, Senior Engineer of Udupi.
The award was announced by the Chairman and Managing Director of Konkan Railway, acknowledging Shetty's critical role.
