Komatireddy Venkat Reddy alleged that BRS leader T. Harish Rao had met former intelligence chief T. Prabhakar Rao, who is under the scanner in the phone-tapping case, in the US to plead with him not to return to India and not to appear before SIT that is probing the phone-tapping case.

Hyderabad: Minister for roads and buildings Komatireddy Venkat Reddy said that the arrest of former chief minister K. Chandrashekar Rao and his son K.T. Rama Rao was imminent for their involvement in the phone-tapping case.

He also alleged that BRS leader T. Harish Rao had met former intelligence chief T. Prabhakar Rao, who is under the scanner in the phone-tapping case, in the US to plead with him not to return to India and not to appear before SIT that is probing the phone-tapping case.

“If Prabhakar Rao returns to India, he will have to appear before SIT and disclose all the details about phone-tapping. It will finally end up in the arrest of KCR and KTR," Reddy said, while addressing a press conference at his residence here on Sunday.

Venkat Reddy said that Harish Rao travelled to the US in an Emirates flight on May 26 at the instance of Chandrashekar Rao to meet Prabhakar Rao and returned to Hyderabad on June 1. He demanded that Harish Rao reveal his US tour details.

"Prabhakar Rao was avoiding KCR’s calls on the pretext that he was in hospital. That is why KCR asked Harish Rao to go and convince him not to return to India and skip appearing before SIT," Reddy alleged.

The senior Congress leader urged KCR to ask Prabhakar Rao to return and face the investigation. He mocked the BRS for celebrating the TG formation day celebrations a day in advance saying that even Mohd Ali Jinnah used to gain vicarious pleasure celebrating Pakistan Independence Day on August 14.

“KCR never had any love for Telangana and started TRS in 2001 after he was denied a cabinet berth in the TDP government in 1999. He used the Telangana statehood movement to extort money from Seemandhra businessmen and industrialists in Hyderabad," the minister alleged.

Meanwhile, responding to Venkat Reddy's charges, Harish Rao dared him to come for an open discussion with the evidence he had against him. In a media statement on Sunday, Harish Rao said that he would present all the details of his US tour with his passport, air tickets and hotel accommodation, at the debate which he proposed to be held the Martyrs Memorial.

He said that Venkat Reddy should apologise to him if he failed to prove the allegations.
