New Delhi: The floor leaders of the Opposition I.N.D.I.A. bloc met on Monday ahead of the start of Parliament’s Winter Session and decided to raise the issue of alleged corruption in the Adani Group and demand a JPC on the matter. The floor leaders met at the Parliament House office of Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, Leader of the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha. Several Opposition MPs, including Kharge, had given adjournment notices in both Houses of Parliament on the issue.

“As the Parliament session begins, the first step the government should take is to have a detailed discussion on the Adani saga which has the potential of tarnishing India’s image on the global stage. This is what the I.N.D.I.A. bloc parties demand today, for the hard-earned investments of crores of retail investors are at stake,” Kharge said in a post in X after the meet. Several leaders, including those of the Congress, have already sought a JPC into the issues surrounding the Adani Group.
Both Houses of Parliament were adjourned as leaders from several Opposition parties gave adjournment notices for discussion on the issue of the indictment of Adani Group

Congress Lok Sabha MP K.C. Venugopal said: “They are very much scared of discussing the Adani issue. They are not even ready to hear one word from the Opposition on the issue.” He added: “Within a second, they adjourned the House. They are scared of this issue being raised.” He said that the Opposition will continue its agitation.
