Modi gets rousing welcome from PMO employees in New Delhi
New Delhi: A day after swearing in as Prime Minister for the third time, Prime Minister Narendra Modi got a rousing welcome from the PMO employees, who greeted him with loud applause in New Delhi.
Standing on the two sides of the passage connecting Modi’s office, employees welcomed him with loud applause. After reaching office, the Prime Minister later signed the first file authorising release of 17th installment of PM Kisan Nidhi benefiting as many as 9.3 crore farmers and distributing around Rs.20,000 crore.
After signing the file, Modi said “Our government is fully committed to Kisan Kalyan. It is therefore fitting that the first file signed on taking charge is related to farmer welfare. We want to keep working even more for farmers and the agriculture sector in the times to come.”
The PM Kisan Nidhi scheme is a central sector scheme with 100 per cent funding from the Central government. It became operational from December 1, 2018.
Under the scheme, an income support of Rs.6,000 per year in three equal installments will be provided to all land holding farmer families. Definition of family for the scheme is husband, wife and minor children. The State government and UT administration will identify the farmer families which are eligible for support as per scheme guidelines. The fund will be directly transferred to the bank accounts of the beneficiaries.
