Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh chief minister Mohan Yadav on Friday claimed that a ‘Modi tsunami’, witnessed in the 2024 general elections, would help BJP cross 400-mark.

Mr Yadav said that he could clearly sense a ‘strong Modi wave’ while he was campaigning in 12 states in the country for BJP in the seven-phase LS polls.

“The Modi tsunami has triggered a strong pro-BJP environment in the country during the elections. This indicates that BJP is set to cross 400-mark in the elections”, he told reporters here.

He said that the pro-BJP sentiment among the people was discernible across the country, from east to west and north to south.

He said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had in the 2014 general elections predicted that the BJP on its own would gain a majority which became a reality.

Similarly, Mr Modi had declared that BJP would cross 300-mark in the 2019 LS elections and the party had secured more than 300 seats in the polls then.

“Mr Modi’s assertion that NDA will cross the 400 mark in the 2014 general elections will also come true”, he said.

It was seen during the seven-phase polls, that the morale of Congress dipped to the lowest level, he claimed.

“This was evident from the fact that Congress leader Rahul Gandhi who won his ancestral constituency of Amethi thrice in the past had shunned the seat in this poll. Similarly, Congress supremo Sonia Gandhi who could have contested in the LS polls bowed out of the elections this time and chose to flee the electoral battle ground”, he said.

How the morale of cadres of a party can remain high when the leader flees the battle ground, Mr Yadav observed.

Mr Yadav said that a similar situation prevailed in Madhya Pradesh where Congress for the first time in Independent India lacked confidence to field candidates in all the 29 LS seats in the state.

There was no reason for Congress to leave Khajuraho's seat to Samajwadi Party (SP) and this showed the party’s lack of confidence, he said.

“The confidence of Congress was shattered after its debacle in 2014 and 2019 LS polls in the state”, he said.

BJP had secured 28 out of 29 seats in Madhya Pradesh in 2019 LS polls.

He said that it was ironic that BJP is now led by its third-generation leaders whereas Congress is still unwilling to retire its first-generation leaders.

State BJP president V D Sharma who flanked Mr Yadav claimed that his party would sweep LS polls in Madhya Pradesh by winning all the 29 seats.
