Bhubaneswar: Following the landfall of Cyclone Dana, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi proudly announced that the state’s “zero casualty” mission was achieved.

At a press briefing on Friday morning, Majhi expressed gratitude to his colleagues, government officials, rescue teams, and the media for their united efforts in minimizing the cyclone's impact.
In a review meeting at the Special Relief Commissioner’s office early Friday morning, the CM attributed the success to both divine protection and coordinated, rapid response efforts.
“By the grace of Lord Jagannath, Cyclone Dana could not inflict much damage,” Majhi shared.
“The past experiences of our top officials, coupled with the tireless work of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), Odisha Disaster Rapid Action Force (ODRAF), Fire Services, healthcare professionals, and personnel from all departments, enabled us to reduce the potential devastation significantly.”
The state’s extensive preparations ahead of Cyclone Dana proved instrumental. Over 5.84 lakh people were evacuated to 8,322 shelters, ensuring safety in even the most vulnerable coastal areas. The CM extended heartfelt thanks to the public for their cooperation with relief teams, noting that their willingness to follow safety protocols contributed to the successful outcomes. He also commended media personnel, whose continuous coverage allowed the government to quickly address both cyclone-period and post-cyclone challenges.
Majhi highlighted plans to address recovery needs as quickly as possible, directing district collectors to assess the cyclone's impact on crops and housing so that a compensation package can be issued. “We’ve instructed district collectors to prepare these reports swiftly. As soon as we receive them, we’ll finalize the compensation package,” he assured.
The CM announced that work to clear uprooted trees and fallen electric poles was underway, with full restoration of power expected by the evening. This swift response underscored Odisha’s commitment to resilience in the face of natural disasters, and the achievement of a “zero casualty” mission stands as a testament to the strength, unity, and spirit of its people and leadership.
