Kerala: PM Modi performs puja, darshan at Guruvayur Temple

Thrissur: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is on a two-day visit to Kerala, offered prayers at the famous Sree Krishna Temple at Guruvayur in Thrissur district on Wednesday.
Clad in a white mundu (dhoti) and shawl, the prime minister performed a thulabharam ritual with lotus flowers at the temple. After offering prayers, Modi attended the wedding of Malayalam actor and BJP leader Suresh Gopi's daughter in a special mandapam in temple premises. He blessed the couple.
A host of film personalities from the Malayalam film industry attended the wedding ceremony including Mammootty, Mohan Lal, Dileep, Khushbu, Biju Menon.
Earlier the prime minister who stayed overnight at the Ernakulam Guest House, arrived at the Sree Krishna College Ground in Guruvayur in a chopper. Tight security arrangements had been made in Guruvayur and various parts of Thrissur district because of the prime minister's visit. Educational institutions in Guruvayur and adjoining areas had declared a holiday following Modi’s visit.
Later the prime minister offered prayers at Thriprayar Sree Rama Swami temple in Thrissur district. He offered food to fish at the temple pond as part of the ritual associated with the place. A large number of people lined up along the road leading to the temple to greet the prime minister. They showered flowers on his vehicle.
After returning to Kochi, Mr Modi will dedicate to the nation Cochin Shipyard Ltd International vessel repairing centre and a new dry dock. He will also address a meeting of 6000 BJP workers who are in charge of booth committees, at the Marine Drive. The prime minister will leave for Delhi in the afternoon.
