PM Praises Araku Valley Coffee in his ‘Mann Ki Baat’

Visakhapatnam: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday lauded the efforts of Girijan Cooperative Corporation (GCC) in promoting Araku Valley coffee on a global scale.

Expressing his “Mann Ki Baat” before the country, he went on to highlight the significance of Araku Valley coffee, which is cultivated by tribal communities in the agency areas of Alluri Sitaramaraju district with the support of GCC and Andhra Pradesh Government.

The PM said it is a matter of pride for all Indians that local products, such as Araku Valley coffee, are gaining international recognition. He underlined that the Araku Valley coffee is renowned for its exceptional aroma and taste.

Narendra Modi pointed out that over 150,000 tribal families have empowered themselves economically through cultivation, production and sale of Araku Valley coffee. He commended GCC for its remarkable efforts towards encouraging tribal farmers to cultivate coffee and bringing global recognition to it. As a result, demand for the coffee has increased, resulting in a significant jump in the income of tribal communities, leading to a more respectable standard of living.

The Prime Minister recalled his visit to Visakhapatnam, when he had the opportunity of enjoying Araku Valley coffee with Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu. He went on to share photos of this moment during the “Mann Ki Baat” programme. Modi praised the coffee's amazing taste and mentioned that it has won several global awards.

He emphasised that Araku Valley coffee had been a popular choice at the G20 Summit held in Delhi. He encouraged everyone to enjoy the taste of Araku Valley coffee whenever possible.

GCC vice chairman and managing director G. Suresh Kumar expressed pride over Narendra Modi acknowledging Araku Valley coffee during his “Mann Ki Baat”.

He observed that the Prime Minister's inspiring remarks will generate excitement, enthusiasm and motivation among tribal coffee farmers, GCC staff, government departments, and all those involved in coffee cultivation.

Suresh Kumar emphasised the importance of Araku coffee in economic empowerment of tribal communities in Andhra Pradesh.

Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for mentioning and praising Araku Valley Coffee in his Man Ki Baat programme on Sunday.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter) Naidu said coffee was being grown with love and devotion by tribal sisters and brothers and it represented a blend of sustainability, tribal empowerment and innovation. It is a reflection of the boundless potential of people of Andhra Pradesh.

“Thank you for sharing this PM Ji and for endorsing a truly Made in AP product. I look forward to enjoying another cup with you,’’ Naidu said in his post.
