Hyderabad: The Android mobile application for the Samagra Kutumba Survey (SKS) launched by the state government is not for public use, and is not even open to all government officials.

Access to the AP has only been given to district collectors and some secretaries, but even they can get only a few details.

This includes details of mandals, villages and population, and facilities available, They did not get personal data of individuals.

In a department with a principal secretary and two secretaries, access is given only to the principal secretary. A senior official said a password had been created to access data through the app.

The state government has told the High Court that the SKS data will be used for official purposes.

In the past, Congress former MP V. Hanumantha Rao had written to Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan requesting him to direct the state government to release the SKS data. The Governor duly forwarded the letter to the government, which reiterated that the data was only for official purposes and could not be placed in the public domain.

The survey covered all households in the state on a single day and covered 94 major parameters. The data is being used by collectors and related departments for launching welfare programmes and schemes.
