BJP agenda eroding social ethos: Siddaramaiah
Siddaramaiah and Dr Parameshwar launch Congress party's high voltage campaign in Hebbal.
Bengaluru: Chief Minister, Siddaramaiah launched the Congress party’s high-voltage election campaign at Hebbal on Sunday slamming the BJP’s communal agenda saying it was eroding social ethos in the country, while Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee(KPCC) president, Dr G. Parameshwar asked the electorate to vote for the Congress candidate to ensure the development of Hebbal.
Mr Siddaramaiah said, “BJP and its leaders are known for dividing people on caste and communal lines. The Congress party is the only party which takes everyone along with it. Our policies are meant to help everyone in society whereas the BJP’s agenda had always been to divide and rule,” he alleged.
Dr Parameshwar said that unforeseen circumstances has led to the by-election in Hebbal and recalled that the Congress had lost the seat marginally in the 2013 Assembly polls. “The Congress government has evolved schemes such as the distribution of rice for the poor which proves how we have always strived to work for them instead of seeing everything through the communal prism whenever we decide to come out with a scheme,” he said.
The victory of the Congress would certainly usher in a new wave of development in Hebbal. “How can a voter who ensures victory of the BJP or JD(S) in this constituency expect development in his constituency?” the KPCC president asked.
Showing much needed enthusiasm, Congress party workers waved party flags and shouted slogans in favour of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and the ministers who accompanied him. At one point when Byrathi Suresh, one of the unsuccessful contenders for the Hebbal seat, entered the venue, party workers shouted slogans in his favour and also raised slogans against another Kuruba leader, H.M. Revanna.
Rehaman disappoints crowd
Hebbal Congress candidate C.K. Abdul Rehaman Sharief on Sunday disappointed party workers of his constituency as he spoke only two sentences.
“I lost by a very small margin last time when I contested from this constituency. I want every single leader’s support to win this time. I am seeking this from all of you,” he said in his appeal
