BS Yeddyurappa kicks up a storm
Congress leader Mohammed Ali Shabbir said, It is unfortunate that the BJP is playing politics on the supreme sacrifice of our jawans.
HYDERABAD: Former Karnataka chief minister and BJP leader B.S. Yeddyurappa has been facing all-round criticism for saying that the air strikes on Jaish-e-Mohammed terror camps in Pakistan would ensure that the BJP wins 22 Lok Sabha seats in Karnataka.
Mr Yeddyurappa had said, “The action of destroying terror hideouts by entering Pakistan has resulted in a pro-Modi wave in the country...It has enthused youth; all this will help us in winning more than 22 Lok Sabha seats (in Karnataka).”
TS Leader of Opposit-ion Mallu Bhatti Vikram-arka condemned the remarks, saying, “The country is most important. Playing politics at the cost of the nation’s security for the post of one man cannot be tolerated in a democratic country. This is a very dangerous trend and it should be condemned.”
Senior BJP leader N. Ramachandra Rao slammed his party colleague and said the BJP had never compromised with the nation’s security. “The air strikes on terror camps have nothing to do with elections. The BJP will fight the polls on ideology and development issues and not on the security of the nation,” he said.
Senior Congress leader Mohammed Ali Shabbir said, “It is unfortunate that the BJP is playing politics on the supreme sacrifice of our jawans.”
