Chennai: The Thiruporur police in Kancheepuram on Wednesday night booked a case against MDMK chief Vaiko, Sun TV directors and its chief editor in connection with a complaint lodged by former AIADMK MP and district secretary Chitlapakkam S Rajendran.

Case was booked under IPC sections of 153 –A (intent to promote enmity by words) and 505 (with intent to cause fear or alarm to public).

Complaint meant to tarnish CM's image: Rajendran

The television channel, without verifying the facts, had given publicity to a complaint lodged by MDMK leader Vaiko with the election commission saying that mysterious container and trucks were found in a bungalow in Siruthavoor near Chennai which Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa uses as a retreat home, according to former AIADMK MP and district secretary Chitlapakkam S. Rajendran. 

Vaiko in his complaint, copies of which were handed over to mediapersons, alleged that huge quantity of cash was being transported to the particular house and asked the EC to look into the matter immediately.

Rajendran further said that Vaiko's complaint was meant to tarnish the image of AIADMK party chief and noted that the trucks were parked there for fitting portable LED display systems for electioneering. Based on Rajendran's compliant the police booked the case on Wednesday night.
