Hyderabad: Telangana Congress working president Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka on Saturday criticised IT minister K.T. Rama Rao for describing his party as a third grade party.

Speaking to media, Mr Vikramarka said that the country had won independence under the leadership of the Congress and it is the same party which gave statehood to Telangana.

Highlighting the prom-inent positions that Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao has given to his relatives, Mr Vikramarka said Jawaharlal Nehru did not have his daughter Indira Gandhi in his Cabinet; neither did Indira Gandhi or Rajiv Gandhi have any of their family members in their Cabinets.

However, he said the KCR Cabinet is loaded with his family members and that Mr Rama Rao was speaking without knowing the history of the Congress. He accused the CM of turning Telangana into a debt-ridden state.

He sought to know the reason for buying power at higher rate by spending Rs 6,000 crore when the cheaper power is available in the open market. He demanded that the government issue a white paper on the electricity department.
