VIJAYAWADA: Suspended YSR Congress MLA Kotamreddy Sridhar Reddy joined Amaravati farmers as they marked the completion of their 1,200th day of protests at Mandadam on Friday.

Rajadhani Rythu JAC organised special programmes in Mandadam on the occasion in which leaders of Telugu Desam, Jana Sena, BJP and Left participated in solidarity with Amaravati farmers. Telugu Desam chief Nara Chandrababu Naidu congratulated farmers for their continuous struggle. He asserted that in the end, Amaravati will emerge as the winner.

Speaking on the occasion, Kotamreddy Sridhar Reddy said Amaravati does not belong to 29 villages, but to crores of Telugu people around the world. He asked Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy why he had earlier supported Amaravati as leader of the opposition and ditched it after coming to power.

The suspended YSRC legislator accused YSRC government of not moving a single brick in developing Amaravati during the past four years. He declared that anti-Amaravati forces will be defeated in the next elections.

Senior Telugu Desam leader Kanna Lakshminarayana, APCC president Gidugu Rudraraju, MLC Panchumarthi Anuradha, former minister Adinarayana Reddy and others participated in the Mandadam programme. They wanted the state government to drop its Three Capitals decision and continue Amaravati as the sole capital of Andhra Pradesh.

Kanna Lakshminarayana said the future of the state is completely dependent on consensus among all political parties with regard to Amaravati. Many people, including those of Amaravati, have given the power to Jagan. Hence, the CM should honour the sentiments of the people.

MLC Anuradha maintained that people’s verdict in recent MLC elections is against the three capitals.

CPI state secretary K. Ramakrishna, Amaravati Bahujan JAC president P. Balakotayya, Jai Bheem Bharat Party founder Jada Shravan Kumar, and BJP leader Y. Sathya Kumar asked the state government to continue Amaravati as the sole capital of AP.
