MLA lays foundation for houses in Jagannanna colony
MLA Malladi Vishnu said the state government is striving hard to fulfill the dreams of the poor through this housing scheme
Vijayawada: City central MLA Malladi Vishnu on Wednesday laid the stone for construction of 172 houses in the VMC layout at Jagananna housing colony in Surampalli.
He said the state government is striving hard to fulfill the dreams of the poor through this housing scheme. “AP under the YSR Congress government is the only state that has allotted land free to 31 lakh poor families,” he said.
The MLA said that in the Vijayawada central constituency, more than 30,000 poor people were given house sites for free, which cost the exchequer Rs 6 lakh each. The state government had spent Rs 270 crore to provide lands to the poor.
“Earlier, the Telugu Desam government’s decision was to build no more than 10,000 houses in Vijayawada city. It showed the poor vision of that government. The present government is not only providing land for the poor but also an assistance of Rs 1.80 lakh to each beneficiary family for construction of their house.”
He said that in addition to this, depending on the needs of the beneficiaries, the government is providing loans through bankers ranging from Rs 50,000 to Rs 1 lakh.
A review meeting was held on Wednesday on the construction of houses for the poor and of the TIDCO houses in the central constituency. MLA Vishnu enquired about the payment of money to the beneficiaries of TIDCO houses. Officials informed him that a payment of Rs 10.28 crore was being made to them.
He asked the officials to complete the work on Jagananna colonies without delay and ensure that all the infrastructure facilities are provided to the people in these colonies.
