HYDERABAD: In a sharp rebuttal to the comments made by BJP state president Bandi Sanjay Kumar that 30 of their leaders are receiving money from Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao, Congress leaders attributed the comments to his frustration that doomsday awaits his party in the state.

Senior Congress leader Ponnala Lakshmaiah said, “Both BRS and BJP are targeting the Congress. Though BJP leaders have also said they will dump the Dharani portal in the Bay of Bengal, BRS is only targeting us. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is to lay the foundation stone for the wagon manufacturing factory in Kazipet only to resurrect the sagging fortunes of the BJP in the state. The price rise, especially of vegetables, has adversely impacted the living standards of people,” he said.

V. Hanumantha Rao said, “When the country is looking up to the Congress, why will leaders go to BRS or take the Chief Minister’s side. The BRS and BJP are together. The BJP is in a flux in the State. Bandi Sanjay’s importance is reducing within his party.”

AICC member Dr S.A. Sampath Kumar said, “Before he talks of the Congress and the BRS, Sanjay should protect his own post first. The party, which claims to be a disciplined party, is washing dirty linen in public.”

Another senior leader M. Kodanda Reddy, said, “Chandrashekar Rao has stood by the BJP all along and supported their decisions on demonetization and farm laws. K.T. Rama Rao recently accepted that it was a mistake to have supported the BJP then. Casting aspersions on a national party shows his lack of political maturity.”

TPCC general secretary Dr Addanki Dayakar said, “Rama Rao’s visit to Delhi for meeting BJP leaders when the opposition parties were meeting in Patna mirrors where they stand. BRS feels a triangular fight will benefit it. AIMIM helps the BJP by polarising votes.”
