BJP Slams KCR for Visiting Maharashtra and Not Flood Hit Areas in Telangana
HYDERABAD: The BJP on Tuesday asked the ruling BRS party government and legislators to demonstrate their commitment to rain and flood relief measures by donating one month's salary and asked Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao to instruct his party MLAs, and MLCs to do so.
“We, the BJP legislators are ready to donate one month's salary,” party MLA from Dubbak, M Raghunandan Rao said at a press conference. “We hope the Chief Minister will ask his party legislators to donate their one month’s salary and we are ready to give our cheques for flood relief too,” he said. The government announced that it will release Rs 500 crore for flood relief but it did not make it clear whether farmers whose lands and crops were submerged in the latest rain spell, would be rescued, he added.
Raghunandan Rao, accompanied by party MLC ANV Reddy, also said that the BJP hoped the Chief Minister, along with some of his Cabinet colleagues would visit some of the worst-hit areas in the state. “But instead, he flew to Maharashtra to expand his family activities to promote one more of his kin as BRS leader in that state. Our hope was that after Monday’s cabinet meeting, the Chief Minister would embark on a tour of flood-ravaged areas but he is only interested in his party activities and not about suffering people of the state,” he said.
The BJP MLA also took aim at MA&UD Minister KT Rama Rao saying during the Cabinet decisions briefing, Rama Rao talked about expanding the Metro Rail services by 228 km in and around the city with an investment of Rs 60,000 crore in the next four years. “This from a Minister who could not do anything about laying 5.5 km of Metro Rail in the Old City of Hyderabad in the last nine years. Since polls are nearing the Chief Minister and the BRS party is making a fresh lot of election promises. I call on people of Telangana to see through such tactics,” he said.
