KURNOOL: With Andhra Pradesh celebrating this year’s Formation Day on Monday, district collector P. Koteshwara Rao has chosen to highlight the Jagananna Chedodu scheme under which tools and equipment are made available to artisans, which help them carry out their skill-based operations in an efficient manner.

Koteshwara Rao underlined on Sunday that Chedodu has transformed lives of tailors, dhobis and barbers. 10,237 tailors, 9,719 washermen and 4,589 Nayi Brahmins received ₹ 10,000 each under the scheme. In all, 24,545 artisans got ₹ 24.54 crore into their bank accounts. The artisans have appreciated Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy for his foresight in helping the needy people.
Shaik Abdul Salam, a tailor in Lakshminagar of Kurnool city said he has utilised his ₹ 10,000 for buying tailoring materials and paying electricity bills. In addition, he is employing three people to assist him in his tailoring activities. All of them are happy with the caring and sharing attitude of Jagan Mohan Reddy government.

Narasimhulu, a washerman hailing from Kodumur, says: "With Jagananna Chedodu’s support, I am running a dry cleaning shop. I received ₹ 10,000 at the most appropriate time when all business was down due to Coronavirus. I purchased washing materials and a new iron box, which has brought in new shine into my family’s life.”

Another beneficiary is Ramesh, a barber. He runs a hair cutting shop at Kodumur. He says most of his community people have benefitted from the Chedodu scheme by buying better equipment. “Jagananna is helping us support our families in a better manner,” Ramesh stated.
