Left Sets 3 PM Deadline Today for Congress

Update: 2023-11-01 17:23 GMT

Hyderabad: The CPI and the CPM have set 3 pm of Thursday as the deadline for the Congress to give a clarity on seat sharing for Telangana Assembly polls. Both the parties on Wednesday held state committee meetings separately to discuss their future course of action in the event of pre-poll alliance with Congress failed.

CPI leaders claimed that the Congress high command had earlier offered Kothagudem and Chennur seats but no official announcement in this
regard has been made so far even as the filing of nominations for
Assembly polls commences on November 3.

The CPM, on the other hand, is demanding Miryalaguda and Wyra seats but
the Congress high command is yet to respond on Wyra though it is
reportedly in favour of offering Miryalaguda seat.

Against this backdrop, the reports of BJP leader G.Vivekanand and BRS
former MLA Jalagam Venkat Rao joining Congress came as a shock to the CPI. This is because Vivekanand is reportedly seeking Chennur seat to his
son G. Vamsi while Venkat Rao is seeking ticket from Kothagudem, that were offered to CPI.

The CPI and the CPM have decided to wait till 3 pm on Thursday for Congress to give a clarity on seat sharing. If not, they have threatened to independent contest in all the seats wherever they are strong.
