Mysuru: In his home district, Mysuru, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah picked his erstwhile party, JD (S), for a scathing attack even as he exhorted the minorities not to vote for that party as it would continue to bond with the BJP.

Addressing party workers and members of Congress Minority Morcha here on Thursday, he said JD (S) managed to come to power in 2006 thanks to its proximity to the BJP and would remain in touch with that party in order to usurp power in future as well.

"We will never join hands with communal forces. The state government is committed to uplift and develop the minorities and  protection their interests. I have never oppose Muslims, I love them and even Christians, Sikhs, and Budhdhists as much as I love Hindus. Our family deity is Siddarameswara, so even I am a Hindu. Has BJP taken a contract of Hindus? State anthem is not just meant to be sung. We believe in "Sarvajanaangada shanthiya thota" and we believe in implementing it. Those who do not have any respect for the Constitution do not have any moral right to continue in power. Those MPs who are using unconstitutional terms are not eligible to continue to be ministers. Karnataka is the land of Buddha, Basava and Kanakadasa, Modi and Amit Shah’s games cannot work here," he added.

KPCC president Dr G Parameshwar said, "the state government has strived for uplifting the poor. Just because BJP got majority, they cannot declare India a Hindu nation. Minorities must understand the agenda of BJP. Congress has sacrificed for minorities, so they have to be with the party. If the Centre begins to bring changes in Constitution, there would be a huge revolution in the nation.”

Meanwhile minister Tanveer Sait urged the government to withdraw cases against Muslims and implement reservations for women in politics.
