TRS MPs protest in Parliament for 2nd day over paddy procurement issue
They demanded the Centre to announce National Farm Produce Policy
Hyderabad: TRS MPs in Rajya Sabha staged a protest in Parliament complex on Tuesday against the suspension of 12 Rajya Sabha members belonging to Opposition parties. They boycotted the House later.
TRS MPs in Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha continued their protest for the second day in a row demanding the Centre to procure paddy from Telangana in rabi and also announce annual paddy procurement target.
They also demanded the Centre to announce National Farm Produce Policy.
The MPs raised slogans against the gazette notification issued by the Centre taking control of irrigation projects over Krishna and Godavari.
TRS MPs alleged that the BJP-led government at the Centre is trying to silence the opposition with suspensions. They said suspending the MPs now for what happened in the previous sessions was against the rules.
They accused the BJP of hatching a conspiracy to end freedom of speech.
The protests were held after Rajya Sabha chairman M.Venkaiah Naidu refused to revoke the suspension of the MPs.
