HYDERABAD: Exuding confidence that the BRS government would return to power for the third term in the Assembly election results on December 3, Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao has convened a Cabinet meeting at the state Secretariat on December 4.

The sudden decision of the Chief Minister to hold the Cabinet meeting of the new BRS government on December 4 without waiting for December 3 results created a sensation in political and government circles, especially at a time when the majority of the exit poll surveys predicted a Congress victory in Assembly polls on December 3.

The Chief Minister held a meeting with senior party leaders and reportedly told them not to believe exit polls. He said the BRS would form the government on December 4 and the first Cabinet meeting will be held on the same day.

The Chief Minister convened a meeting with ministers K.T. Rama Rao, T. Harish Rao and several senior party leaders at Pragathi Bhavan. He reviewed the polling percentage, polling trend from all the constituencies in all the districts.

The issue of the majority of exit polls predicting a victory for the Congress in Assembly polls learnt to have come up for discussion.

When ministers and senior leaders pointed out this issue, the Chief Minister reportedly rubbished these surveys and asked them to ignore them and not to get worried about these reports unnecessarily. Rao asked them to remain calm and composed until the counting of votes on Sunday and stated that the BRS is going to win the Assembly polls with a clear majority, it is learnt.

The Chief Minister reportedly told them that the BRS government will assume office for a third term on December 4 and he will hold the first cabinet meeting on the same day at Secretariat to take decisions on implementation of promises made to people in Assembly polls.

He reportedly told them that the BRS government implemented several pathbreaking development programmes and welfare schemes in the last nine years benefitting all sections which will be reflected in the counting of votes on December 3.
