Revolutionary Socialist Party gets Aroor, Attingal
RSP has made it clear that a district leader will contest in Aroor, dismissing the candidature of actor Siddique.
Thiruvananthapuram: RSP will contest in Attingal and Aroor seats apart from the three seats allotted to the party by the UDF earlier. This was decided at the bilateral talks held between the RSP and Congress on Friday.
Chief Minister Oommen Chandy and Home minister Ramesh Chennithala, telephoned RSP state secretary A A Aziz and assured the seats. The UDF had earlier given Iravipuram, Chavara and Kunnathur seats to the party and RSP had announced A Aziz, Shibu Baby John and Ullas Kovoor respectively as candidates in these seats.
There were reports that actor Siddique would be fielded in Aroor if the seat was for the Congress. However, now RSP leaders have made it clear that a district RSP leader will be competing from here.
Meanwhile, the Congress leaders in their telephone conversation with Kerala Congress (M) leaders, made it clear that no more seats would be allotted to the party. Kerala Congress had earlier demanded that any one of the Punalur, Ranni or Perumbavoor seats be given to them. IUML leaders have also refused to accept Chadayamangalam seat offered to them instead of Eravipuram.
JD (U) leaders have also refused to accept Punalur instead of Ambalappuzha. The Congress also refused to heed to the demand of JD(U) for Kovalam instead of Nemom. Even Nattika can be considered, but not Kovalam, the Congress party clarifies.
