Vikram Reddy files nomination for Atmakur bypoll amid fanfare
Before filing the nomination, Reddy and other leaders held a rally from the RTC bus stand to the RDO office
Nellore: Mekapati Vikram Reddy of the YSR Congress Party filed his nomination for the Atmakur bypoll on Thursday amid huge fanfare.
He was accompanied by agriculture minister Kakani Govardhan Reddy, former ministers Balineni Srinivasa Reddy and P. Anilkumar Yadav, Rajya Sabha member and Nellore district president for YSR Congress Vemireddy Prabhakar Reddy, Nellore MP Adala Prabhakar Reddy, Sullurpeta legislator Kiliveti Sanjeevaiah, Kovur legislator Nallapareddy Prasannakumar Reddy and Kandukuru legislator M. Mahidhar Reddy.
However, Venkatagiri legislator Anam Ramanarayana Reddy and Kavali legislator R. Pratapkumar Reddy were conspicuous by their absence.
Before filing the nomination, Reddy and other leaders held a rally from the RTC bus stand to the RDO office.
Appealing to the public to vote for him, he promised to continue “good works” initiated by his sibling Goutham Reddy, whose sudden death has necessitated a bypoll.
Govardhan Reddy expressed confidence in Reddy securing the seat by a 1 lakh majority and said the BJP was “afraid to contest in this segment.”
Srinivasa Reddy evoked the sibling sentiment and asked the people to pay tribute to their late leader Goutham by electing his sibling Vikram.
