Govt creating hurdles for Khammam meet: Congress
KHAMMAM: Supporters of former MP Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy on Saturday alleged that local administration and BRS leaders were creating hurdles for the Congress party meeting to be held in Khammam on Sunday.
The leaders say that the RTC authorities had refused their request to provide 1,500 buses on hire to be used for transportation of the public for the meeting.
Ponguleti’s close associate Konduru Sudhakar of Sattupalli said they met the RTC authorities of Sathupalli, Manuguru, Madhira, and Wyra, Kothagudem and Bhandrachalam bus depots and requested them to provide buses.
The supporters of Ponguleti staged a protest in front of the Sattupalli RTC bus depot as the officials told them that they were unable to provide RTC buses since they had to run buses for the convenience of the students appearing for the Group –IV examination held on July 2 and they were ready to pay ₹1.90 crores for rent for the buses.
On the other hand, there were strong allegations that the Khammam municipal authorities issued a notice that they would supply drinking water at 4 pm instead of in the morning on Sunday, citing repairs to the water supply pipelines.
But the Congress leaders alleged that authorities wanted to restrict the women folk from going to the party meeting by keeping them busy drawing water during the meeting time.
Congress leaders also expressed their anger that local transport department authorities may create problems for the owner of the private vehicles to be used for the transportation of the public for the meeting on July 2.
