DMK walks out of Assembly
Stalin persisted with his demand and finally walked out of the House.
Chennai: The DMK staged a walkout from the Assembly on Thursday opposing the Speaker’s refusal to permit Leader of Opposition M.K. Stalin to raise an issue.
The remarks by Stalin on the subject were expunged by Speaker P. Dhanapal and the move was strongly opposed by the DMK. Stalin persisted with his demand and finally walked out of the House.
Coming out of the Assembly, Stalin told reporters that he wanted to raise the issue of suspension of senior IAS officials as it had been reported widely in the media.
But, the Speaker refused permission saying that the names of officials should not be mentioned in the Assembly. He pointed out that the media had come out with various charges against the suspended officials and said the truth must be known to the people.
