Owaisi on UP electoral tour from Sept 7

HYDERABAD: The All India Majilis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) president and Lok Sabha member, Asaduddin Owaisi, is embarking a three-day tour of Uttar Pradesh to keep pace with the electioneering that has already commenced in the state, where Assembly elections are due in March.

Owaisi said here on Thursday that he will visit Rajauli in Faizabad district on September 7, be in Sultanpur the next day and wind up his tour at Barabanki on September 9.

This will be the second time the party will be contesting elections in UP. AIMIM fielded 38 candidates in the 2017 elections in the 403-member Uttar Pradesh Assembly.

Owaisi is questioning radicalization, especially visible on social media, which stemmed from targeting fruit and dry-fruit vendors, who all belonged to a particular community, much like what they had done in Delhi.

He sought the Centre to come clear on its stand on Taliban and asked "Do you consider it as a terrorist organisation? If you consider so, would India, as chairperson of the United Nations Sanction Committee, delist them? "
Owaisi said "You are meeting and talking to them. I suggest BJP's jack in the boxes go to these talks or they shut up and stop calling everyone Taliban."
