Nizamabad: BRS leader and Telangana Turmeric Farmers Association president Kotapati Narasimham Naidu termed the announcement of setting up of turmeric board for the state by the BJP government as an election gimmick.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the board at the Mahabubnagar meeting for political mileage keeping in view the elections, he said. “If the BJP government is sincere towards turmeric board, it should be introduced in the Parliament and allocate Rs 500 crore”, he said.

Turmeric farmers had been tirelessly fighting for the board, but the BJP government did not bat an eyelid till now.

But, suddenly, ahead of the elections, it announced it only to lure the turmeric farmers, he criticised. But, the farmers were aware of the gimmicks by the BJP leaders regarding the matter, he added.
