Hyderabad: The last day of Munugode bypoll campaigning witnessed tremendous action off the field on Twitter apart from the on-field activities, as the leading contesting parties stormed social media with posts ranging from campaigning activities to serious allegations.

TRS working president and minister K.T.Rama Rao specifically took a dig at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi in response to the latter’s comments on the Chandrashekar Rao government’s failures. “International leader Rahul Gandhi who can’t even win his own Parliament seat in Amethi ridicules Telangana CM KCR Ji’s national party ambitions. Wannabe PM should first convince his people to elect him as an MP (sic),” Rama Rao tweeted.

One of the burning issues in the tweet exchange was the allegations of attack on party workers by both the BJP and the TRS, including the attack on BJP leader Etala Rajendar and Rama Rao.

BJP leader and Union minister G. Kishan Reddy while attacking Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao posted a video of TRS workers attacking BJP vehicles with a caption: “I strongly condemn the attack by TRS goons on MLA Shri Etala Rajendar of Huzurabad. It is a mockery of democracy. It is a failure of the government not to provide adequate protection to an MLA elected by the people (sic).”

In response, the TRS posted a tweet that read: “BJP Gundaism in Palivela of Munugodu Mandal. TRS working president and minister @KTRTRS were on their way to a road show by BJP goons who pelted stones on the TRS ranks. Many people including MLC @PRRTRS, MLA @PSRNSPT, ZP Chairman Jagdish were injured (sic).”

TS BJP leader Bandi Sanjay went all out to attack the TRS, posting several issues against the Chandrashekar Rao government, including the attack on Rajendar and BJP workers. He condemned the attack on Rajendar.

BJP candidate for Munugode Komatireddy Rajgopal Reddy tweeted against the Chief Minister saying: “KCR's aim is to deceive people. The MLAs of their own party have no value in that party, why do they solve the problems of the people? #BJP4Munugode”

The state Congress appeared to be more focused on the Bharat Jodo Yatra in Hyderabad, as it mostly posted about padayatra activities, diverting attention away from the Munugode bypolls.

TPCC chief A. Reavanth Reddy appealed to women voters to vote for Palvai Sravanthi in a tweet that said: Sisters…Mothers... Your representative is Sravanti. Let's vote by hand... Let's make the girl child win…”

Dasari Anusuya, also known as Dr Seethakka, tweeted a video of Congress candidate Palvai Sravanthi, saying: "We are giving your baby girl in your hands, whether you get rich or achieve victory...”
