Developmental works come to a halt in Karnataka, alleges ex-CM
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been discharging his duties in an impartial manner, Yeddyurappa said
BENGALURU: Bharatiya Janata Party leader and former Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa on Thursday accused that the developmental works in Karnataka have come to standstill after a new government of Congress party came to power under Chief Minister Siddaramaiah five months back and alleged that the State has been heading towards bankruptcy.
At a press conference in Bengaluru, Yeddyurappa accused that the State Government has been struggling to fulfill its promises made to the voters prior to coming to power in the State and has been wasting its time over resources to fulfill the 5-guarantees the party made to the voters.
Of the 5-schemes announced before coming to power, Yeddyurappa said except for free travel for women in State owned buses, none of the other schemes such as free power upto 200 units has not met with success since the State Government hiked the power tariff while Rs 2,000 every month cash benefit scheme for women has not reached 50 percent of the eligible women.
The varying factions belong to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar has engaged in a fight for power and a meeting was held by some Ministers to curb the influence of D.K. Shivakumar, he said and alleged that the Chief Minister lacks control over administration.
Over the tackling of River Cauvery water dispute, Yeddyurappa alleged the State Government failed to make its argument in an effective manner before the Cauvery Water Regulation Committee and also Cauvery Water Management Authority and River Cauvery water has been flowing to Tamil Nadu continuously despite the State has been reeling under drought.
The interests of Karnataka have not been ignored by Prime Minister Narendra Modi as alleged by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, said Bharatiya Janata Party leader and stated that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been discharging his duties in an impartial manner.
Yeddyurappa said that the Central Government led by BJP has released copious funds for developmental works to a tune of Rs 5.23 lakh crore in the last nine and half years of Modi’s rule over the country.
