Mysuru: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s persuasive tactics appear to have worked as the 28-year-old son of the late Janata Dal (S) MLA, Chikkamaadu, is all set to join the Congress. Anil Chikkamadu has been reportedly promised a Congress ticket from his late father’s H D Kote constituency for the assembly elections.

Speaking to Deccan Chronicle, the young politician, a BE graduate and currently Hanugod  ZP member, said JD(S) had refused to field him from H D Kote and was opting for  former Congress MLA of the constituency, Chikkanna, who had joined the party recently. “JD(S) supremo H.D. Deve Gowda told me that since Chikkanna was senior to me, he would be given H D Kote ticket and promised me the position of chairman of some board or corporation when his party came to power. But on the other  hand I was given an open invitation by  Siddaramaiah to join the Congress recently,” he revealed, adding that he  met the Chief Minister 10 days ago in Bengaluru and was promised party  ticket to contest from HD Kote constituency.
